Things learned at the Health & Glyconutrition Conference

Last Friday, Naoki and I attended a two-day Health and Glyconutrition Conference in Sacramento. We met and spoke with people that have been taking glyconutrients to help their bodies heal from esophogal cancer, Muscular Dystrophy, severe allergies, renal cell cancer, CFS, Fibromyalgia, migraines, and arthritis, just to name a few.

A recent report stated that people who were currently taking prescription meds did not take additional steps to better their health, such as losing weight, exercising and improving their daily diet. On the other side, people who took supplements did take the time to shop for organically grown produce, at minimum walked daily and avoided poor lifestyle choices (smoking, fast food, etc.).

It's amazing how many drug commercials are on television these days. It's seems for every disorder you think you may or may not have, there's a prescription for it. I don't remember there being that many ads 20 years ago, but then I don't remember there being that many cases of cancer, diabetes, asthma, and other illnesses then either.

A few notes taken from these past weekends conference...

- Dietary supplements are food Not medicine. Glyconutrients and supplements do Not cure or treat disease - it's your body that heals using the nutrients you give it.

- Glyconutrients works better than antibiotics as antibiotics only work on one issue while glyconutrients work by fortifying all cells, assisting all systems of the body.

- Blood tests are the only true measurements of a test to show how well your supplements are working.

- In 1951 two (2) peaches would supply the current RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of vitamin A. Today it would require 53 peaches to provide the same amount of vitamin A (calories and glycemic levels are still the same)

- Lycopene which is found in vine-ripened tomatoes (which also gives the tomato it's redness) is not available in green harvested tomatoes that are gassed to give it color. These are tomatoes that are often found sitting on the shelves of our local grocerery stores. *side note: Lycopene is not destroyed in heat.

- Selenium is deficient in UK soil.

- The medical/allopathic approach is usually "1 Drug --> 1 Disease", in the natural world we supplement the nutrients we are deficient in. (Human bodies are not physiologically deficient in drugs)

- Minerals are all synergistic to something else and many vitamins are catalysts. High levels of beta-carotene (which is a catalyst for vitamin A) can become a pro-oxidant that causes oxidative stress. Taking too many antioxidants in the form of a supplement is bad and can become a pro-oxidant, lowering antioxidant protection.

- The only difference in blood types are their glyconutrient balance.

- Since 1930, we have had over 75,000 toxic chemicals introduced to our environment

- Scotchguard chemicals (PFOS) in high amounts will cause post natal deaths.

- Benzene, another cancer causing chemical, can be found in combustion of fuel and 43% of exposure is caused by smoking.

- Goji juice is 98.7% glucose. For the healthy person, it may provide some helpful nutrients, but is still lacking in many other areas. This was lab- tested to the molecule.

- When improper/incorrect glycosolation occurs, there is a chance for "Congenital Defect Glycosolation" (aka CDG), for example SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).

- Certain carbohydrates (such as glyconutrients) are Vital for correct structure function relationship of cell membranes, etc. (all biological systems).

- Honey (sucrose) is higher on the glycemic index than table sugar, although the natural form does contain beneficial amino acids and other B vitamins.
