Would you like to have any VHS(VCR) tape prefer to be in DVD format?

This is how to do with Magnavox ZV427MG9.

It is for converting 1 VHS tape to 1 DVD disc.

Recording time.

Here's list of recording time and mode for a standard 12 cm DVD-R disc.

  • HQ 1 hour
  • SP 2 hour
  • SPP 2.5 hour
  • LP 3 hour
  • EP 4 hour
  • SLP 6 hour
Steps
  1. Insert blank DVD-R disc.
  2. Insert VHS tape to deck.
  3. Fast forward VHS tape to end for checking recording time.
  4. Pick recording mode to fit in one DVD disc.
  5. Fast rewind VHS tape to beginning.
  6. Play VHS tape
  7. Push DVD dubbing button when first view shows up.
  8. Stop DVD recording when VHS tape play has done.
  9. Fast rewind VHS tape and eject.
  10. Finalize DVD and eject.
  11. Optional: Make ISO image from the DVD
Thank you very much,
Naoki

Some tips I got trapped.

Mac

We need Mac to create provision file. Windows only environment does not work. I got Mac mini. We need to pay $100 to be iOs developer.

p12

It requires "iPhone certificate" file. File extension is .p12. We need to create from KeyChain on Mac. When we create we need to select "iPhone Developer Certificate" and "Personal Secret Key" and click to export as P12 file. One file will be created with password.

mobileprovision

This file can be created on Windows after some part on Mac.

iTunes

When we deploy through we need drag and drop mobileprovision file. IPA file will be added by just double clicking.

pfi.bat

It does not work Java 64 bit version. So I installed 32 bit version on C:\java32\ folder. But still command line called 64bit version even after I changed PATH. So I modified pfi.bat file.

Before

@java -Xms256m -Xmx1024m -jar "%~dp0\..\lib\pfi.jar" %*

After

C:\java32\jdk1.6.0_22\bin\java -Xms256m -Xmx1024m -jar "%~dp0\..\lib\pfi.jar" %*

Package batch file

Parameter is long. So it's better to make a batch file. Here's sample.
C:\packagerforiphone\bin\pfi -package -target ipa-test -provisioning-profile "Jeanette_Loan_Calc.mobileprovision" -storetype pkcs12 -keystore "iOs_Dev_Naoki.p12" -storepass PASSWORD "loan_calc.ipa" "loan_calc-app.xml" "loan_calc.swf"

app.xml file

Here's bare minimum but working sample for above loan_calc-app.xml file. It is for iPhone and iPad.
===================

<application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.0">

  <version>1.0</version>
  <filename>loan_calc</filename>

  <initialWindow>

loan_calc.swf

    <systemChrome>standard</systemChrome>
    <transparent>false</transparent>
    <visible>true</visible>
    <fullScreen>false</fullScreen>
    <aspectRatio>portrait</aspectRatio>
    <renderMode>auto</renderMode>
    <autoOrients>false</autoOrients>
  </initialWindow>
  <icon/>
  <customUpdateUI>false</customUpdateUI>
  <allowBrowserInvocation>false</allowBrowserInvocation>
  <iPhone>
    <InfoAdditions>

      <key>UIDeviceFamily</key><array><string>1</string><string>2</string></array>
    </InfoAdditions>
  </iPhone>

</application>

===================

This is learned from toastmasters friend from Hawaii.

ALOHA means:

  • A (AKAHAI) - (respect)
  • L (LOKAHI) - (cooporation)
  • O (OLOL) - (joy)
  • H (HAAHA) - (humble)
  • A (AHONUI) - (patient)

Hawaii is located between America and Asia. I think these would apply to most of asian countries.But now I think it is apply in US too.

Before I came to US, I thought US people looked not really being "humble". It is from TV show or movies, so I had bias. But I learned more and more about business and successful people.

They have the "humble" in common as well. It might be converted to "appriciation".

Well, I'm still learning these and both US and Japanese cultures.
